When Gross Designs’ Aaron Grosskopf informed us that two long-time friends were interested in driving for our growing family at Rocket Racing Setups, we were definitely curious who they could be. We were shocked to find out that the perspective drivers were actually NASCAR Cup Series Drivers. Brennan Poole and Quin Houff.

Quin Houff started iRacing just two weeks after Covid-19 brought the 2020 NASCAR season to an abrupt halt. Being a rookie in the top series, practice is very important and it is almost impossible to ask any driver that has never driven on most of the tracks featured on the schedule to be competitive without getting a feel for how to get around all of the tracks that he had never even set foot on.

Imagine trying to drive around a notoriously difficult track like Darlington or the Charlotte Roval without a lick of practice. It is no wonder that Quin decided to utilize iRacing to give him an edge against other drivers who have much more experience than him at tracks that he had yet to turn a lap.

Even though Brennan Poole has experience at the majority of NASCAR tracks, without iRacing he wouldn’t have been able to knock the rust off that had built up after a year of not racing at many of the different tracks. Even 2019 Cup Series Champion, Kyle Busch suffered from the lack of practice and Brennan had to figure out another way to get comfortable with the unique racing lines that are present at all the race tracks.

IRacing wasn’t the only thing that helped both Quin and Brennan get the edge over the competition. Even though they weren’t necessarily driving for Rocket Racing Setups, we still were helping them with setups that would give them the confidence out on the virtual race track and the real world versions. We are so glad to now have them officially join our driver roster and look forward to helping them prepare for many of the new tracks that have never been touched by a NASCAR Cup Car in 2021!
